High Tea for ME was a pilot annual awareness/fundraising event for Emerge Australia (formerly ME/CFS Australia (Victoria)) for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), commonly known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). The project was undertaken while working as CEO at Emerge Australia .
We had a great team of volunteers, including our very talented and hard-working Event Manager Karen Sedgewick of Design Partners, who came up with the original concept. My role in the project was marketing the event, including creating a website and communications strategy. I worked in conjunction with Karen to ensure that the event reached the audience we wanted. This included advertising in targeted local newspapers, on community radio, a letter-box drop and media contacts.
The pilot was very successful with 70 attendees on Mother’s Day, 2014 and 1000 website hits, as well as significant mentions on social media and online event listings.
